“I see perfume-making not as a science of precision, but as an art and a form of alchemy. The mystery and olfactory delight in experiencing an exquisite new fragrance, there is nothing quite like it.”
Though Tami Katz carries with her 25 years of experience in the perfume industry, it is her passion for fragrance and deep appreciation of its centuries’ old tradition that makes her a top-notch expert in the field.
Katz’s entry into the luxurious world of fragrance began with the elite Executive Training Program at Bloomingdales. Cultivating a keen understanding of all aspects of perfume-making, Tami pursued her passion and spent the bulk of her career creating perfumes for Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, Elizabeth Arden, Liz Claiborne, Axe, Dove, Degree and more at the world-renowned IFF. Ultimately, she was chosen to hone her craft with industry guru, Ann Gottlieb. Katz has expertly evaluated perfume and cologne, home fragrances, deodorants, and lotions, in addition to shampoo.
Throughout her journey, Katz has worked with countless suppliers, chemists, and clients as she ushered the creation process from start to sublime finish. She loves collaborating with perfumers, providing olfactive guidance and inspiration to stimulate their creativity.
But honoring the ancient tradition and aesthetic of perfume-making is what sets Katz apart as a master in her field. As with all art, perfume is a form of self-expression. Surveying the palette of raw materials from which every perfume is created, how the fragrance comes alive on contact with the wearer and brands them in the nose of their lover, the olfactory journey on which one is taken when experiencing a new scent: this is why Katz is inspired by the artistry of perfume.
